Dover Castle has protected the port of Dover for centuries. The cliffs around it have been tunneled into with many bunkers used during the Second World War.
At night it is lit up and is a beacon that can be seen for miles.
I took these pictures while we still lived in Kent, I still remember the evening, it was freezing and I struggled to handle the camera with numb fingers. The wind was howling too and the tripod I had was not the sturdiest, but you do the best with what you have!
While I was in the port I saw a suspicious vehicle pointing out to see flashing its lights. I will never know what they were up to, but can only imagine it was smuggling of some sort.
